The main focus of our research is engineering the interface between biomaterials and tissues/cells to solve important biomedical problems. Our research is funded by various sources including National Institute of Health (NIH) and National Science Foundation (NSF).

Examples of the ongoing research projects are:

1. Immunomodulation for medical device/tissue engineering scaffolds

2. Hydrogel formulations for wound healing

3. Therapeutic contact lens

4. Development of new artificial cornea (KPro)

5. Bioadhesive and surface chemistry for tissue-implant integration

6. Hydrogels for controlled release of protein drugs
